Undergraduate Teacher Preparation Programs
Early Childhood
(Pre-Kindergarten-Grade 3)
The Early Childhood Education program leads to the Bachelor of Science in Education degree with licensure. The program is designed so that students complete general education and content courses as freshmen and sophomores and begin the Early Childhood Program as juniors as members of a cohort group. The program consists of five quarters of integrated coursework and field experiences and one quarter of student teaching. Recommendation for licensure requires successful completion of the program and passing scores on required Praxis II examinations. more >>
Middle Childhood
(Grades 4-9)
The Middle Childhood Education program leads to the Bachelor of Science in Education degree without licensure. The program is designed so that students complete general education and curriculum content courses, concentrations in two of four content areas (English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science), and pre-professional education courses. Students must complete the graduate level program and Praxis II examinations in order to be eligible for licensure in Middle Childhood Education. more >>
Graduate Level Teacher Preparation Programs
Middle Childhood
(Grades 4-9)
The post-baccalaureate program in Middle Childhood education leads to the Master of
Education degree and licensure to teach two of the following content areas: English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The program is designed for four-quarters of full-time study and internship, requiring a Monday through Friday commitment. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree, meet content requirements, and pass content area Praxis II examinations. Upon successful completion of the licensure portion of the program and passing the Praxis II exam in the Principles of Learning and Teaching 5-9, candidates are eligible for a provisional license in Middle Childhood Education. more >>
Adolescent to Young Adult
(Grades 7-12)
The Adolescent to Young Adult Education program leads to the Master of Education degree and licensure to teach a single subject (English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, or Integrated Business and Marketing). The program is designed for four-quarters of full-time study and internship, requiring a Monday through Friday commitment. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree, meet content requirements, and pass content area Praxis II examinations. Upon successful completion of the licensure portion of the program and passing the Praxis II exam in the Principles of Learning and Teaching 7-12, candidates are eligible for a provisional Adolescent to Young Adult Education license in the specific content area. more >>
Multi-Age
(Pre-Kindergarten-Grade 12)
The Multi-Age program leads to the Master of Education degree and licensure to teach French, Spanish, or Art. The program is designed for five-quarters of full-time study and internship, requiring a Monday through Friday commitment. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree, meet content requirements, and pass content area Praxis II examinations. Upon successful completion of the licensure portion of the program and passing any one of the Praxis II exams in the Principles of Learning and Teaching, candidates are eligible for a provisional Multi-Age license in the specific content area. more >>
Intervention Specialist/SpecialEducation
(Kindergarten-Grade 12)
The Intervention Specialist licensure and degree programs are offered at the graduate level and are available for the currently practicing teacher as well as those persons who are not currently holding a teaching license. These are separate, individual programs that can be completed on either a part-time or full-time basis.more >>
Advanced Studies
Master of Education (M.Ed.) programs are available for current teachers who want
in-depth study in a particular area of interest and are designed to meet individual
